That's right! We took the kids to Disney World (again). This is our third time taking the kids and every time it is just so different. My friends on Facebook ask me all sorts of Disney-related questions, so I guess you could call me an amateur Disney expert.
We left early on the morning of Groundhog Day and stayed 7 nights/8 days. During our trip was the Superbowl. Now, we are from Wisconsin. With the Green Bay Packers playing in the Superbowl, my husband was in mourning. He wouldn't be home to watch the game and being in Wisconsin during the "big game" is a big deal. Stores and restaurants close. The streets are desserted. All eyes are on the game. And there we were--at Disney World. We had no idea that in July and August we would be in the Superbowl or anything like it.
But, I digress. We stayed at the Boardwalk Resort, just off EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, but there is no "real world" while you are on Disney Property and we ended up watching the Superbowl in our hotel room. Rough, because when I watch football, I talk and yell at the TV.
Long story short, the Packers WON!!!!!! Rumors were around that MVP would be at Disney World's Magic Kingdom on Monday and we voted and prayed that it would be Aaron Rodgers--one of our most favorite players. Call it fate, but Aaron Rodgers was named MVP and we were scheduled to be at the Magic Kingdom on Monday.
Monday, after Gwen got her "princess treatment" of hair and nails in the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, we went on a couple of rides and then at 1:15, we got in place for the parade with Aaron Rodgers. The parade as supposed to be at 2:15. It got bumped to 3:00 and then 3:45 due to flight delays. But there we sat, stood, and hoola hooped.
While we waited, we were approached by a camera crew and they asked us if we would like to be on a Disney Video Blog post. We said, "SURE!" We taped us cheering like we were watching the parade. So funny. :) Here is a link to the final video.
Aaron Rodgers Disney World Parade
We are the family at around the 50 second mark of the video.
Since we were there so early, we had an awesome spot. Right by the press area and we ended up on some of the footage of local TV stations. Sort of exciting. When the parade went through, Aaron Rodgers' car stopped right in front of us! SO COOL!!
Here is a link to a picture. My son is the little blond kid in the front, just right of Aaron Rodgers' car, in the 12 Jersey. My husband is just behind him.
After the parade, Rodgers came up front the underground tunnels to do interviews in front of the castle. I'll have to get the pictures from my husband, Boone. As he was interviewing, Gwen and I walked down towards Tomorrowland to the back part of the rope. Boone, gave up trying to get pictures and show Barrett one of his football heros. Boone and Barrett came down by us and we watched and waited.
Rodgers walked down the rope with the security. Aaron Rodgers saw Barrett and cut through the security and shook his hand. Barrett was a little stunned while he walked over, so I told him to put his hand out there and he did. It was amazing! Barrett hasn't stopped talking about it and he was a little celebrity when he came back to school.
I'll share more pictures soon.
Now, I'm doing laundry! :)
