Toys Made in the USA!

In a previous post, I shared with you a challenge that I have issued to myself.  During the month of July, I am going to buy stuff made in the USA.  (With the exception of gasoline)  I've been thinking about this for months.

Check this out!  Toys MADE IN THE USA!!  YIPPEEE!!!

Look at this one--Who doesn't remember being at the roller rink and riding one of these bad boys?  I love the Flying Turtle.

New additions!

I've been crazy busy.  I'm glad I'm not teaching this summer.  I've been so busy, I haven't even been able to drop off a bunch of stuff at the studio.  It is just sitting on the "Take to the Studio" spot.

I've added a few of my favorite blogs to read for decorating ideas and just "mom stuff".  I hope some of the blogs will inspire you in some way!

Disney Bridal Gowns: I want to get married again!

Have you seen or heard about this?  Alfred Angelo has a bridal dress line called "Disney Fairytale Weddings by Alfred Angelo".   Check out the "Cinderella" Dress seen here.  I just love it.
It is just beautiful!  It makes me want to get married again.  OK.  Discovery shared.  I feel better now.  :)

Kitchen clean-up organization.

Here she is...my cleaned up kitchen!  Just in time too.  Gwen had two birthday parties this weekend.  One for three little girl friends on Saturday.  And one on Sunday with the grandparents and Boone's brother and his fiancee.  Let's be honest here--this wasn't any major reorganization.  It was more of a clean-this-crap-up-and-put-it-away organization week.  I'm glad it's done and I'm hoping that we will do a better job staying on top of things for the next few weeks.  :)
Our nine-year old Yorkie, Lola got in on the picture.  :)
Our table.  Yes, we have three different kinds of chairs.  We would love to get a new table, but for some reason, we can't seem to find one we love.  Plus, the kids have beaten this table to death and now Sofie likes to chew on chairs.  So, I don't see us getting a new table for at least another year.
Our hutch.  Two piles of library books-read and unread.  The basket is for our doggy stuff-leads, treats, etc.

Gwen with the two dolly cakes she had for her little girl party.  Fun!

Hallway Closet Reorganization: Complete

Man, I had a bunch of old gross rugs in my closet.  I think some were from my parents who told me that they got them from a dead guy.  I don't know.  I never used them, so I tossed them and I have a ton of space in there!  I cleared the floor of stuff too.  Nice.

Laundry Room Reorganization: Complete!

I bought two more matching laundry baskets.  One for lights/whites, one for reds, and one for darks.  It looks so much nicer to have all the baskets the same.  Cost of this makeover--$14.49, the cost of two laundry baskets.

Herbal Essences Spray Gel Product Review

My daughter, Gwen, has fine hair.  She has long hair, but it is fine.  She gets broken hairs that stick up out of her ponytails and makes it look all messy and unkept.  I hate that.  Regular gels tend to weigh her hair down or makes her hair "crunchy".  NO GOOD.  :(  I'm always on the search for something to help tame those little fine fly-aways without too much weight or being too thick for her hair.

I FOUND THE ANSWER!!!

Herbal Essences Spray Gel!!!  (Cue the angels singing--"Hallelujah!!!!")

You can find this spray hair gel at big boxes like Target, Walgreens, etc.

This spray gel has become a MUST in our house.  My daughter's hair looks so much better with it.  I gather her hair in a pony tail or pig tails and spray and comb into place.  Put the covered hair band in her hair and she comes home looking almost the same as how I sent her.  It is great!  If you or your child has fine hair that doesn't work with regular gels, Herbal Essences Spray Gel ROCKS!

Desk Organization: Complete!

Check me out people!  I can see my desk!  Everything found a home.  :)

Desk organization: YIKES!

Here it is.  BEWARE OF THE CRAP!  This desk, once I get things cleared off, will look pretty good.  It's hard to get much worse!

Yes, that is the Disney Blog up on my computer.  I can't wait to get on this project!

Hall Linen Closet Reorganization

Here it is--my weakness.   I love blankets.  I can't have enough.  :)  Here is the hall closet before picture (hanging head in shame).  I store the kids play-dough and other junks in there too.

Laundry Room Reorganization

Ok people.  DO NOT JUDGE ME BY THE MESS IN MY LAUNDRY ROOM!!!!
This is super tiny laundry room.  As you can see, it is only large enough to have the washer and dryer side by side.  That's it.  Last August, my awesome hubby put in a great counter top and it made my laundry room look a little prettier.  Not so much of the "laundromat chic", but a somewhat decent looking laundry room.  I haven't cleaned or organized since last August.  I just toss and store in there and this is what it ended up looking like--A MESS!
See, not pretty.  I like to hang dry swimsuits on the hang bar and I have a garbage can with "lost socks".  I have some random storage on the top rack for stuff too.  I'm going to clean this baby out and show you what it looks like at the end of the week.  :)

Getting Organized in June

I'm not teaching at my private violin studio this summer, but I am going to get organized in the house.  I thought about having it be the summer of organization, but that would be awful.  It would feel like I'm trying to clean and organize ALL THE TIME, so I broke it down to the month of June.  If you look at the calendar, you can break it down to five sections.
June 1-4:  Laundry Room, Hall closet, my desk
June 5-11:  Kitchen
June 12-18:  Living Room, Foyer, Main Bathroom
June 19-25:  Master Bedroom and Bathroom, Master closet
June 26-30:  Kids rooms and closets.

Follow me on my journey of organization.  I will do my best to include before and after pictures too.
